1.  Go to bed early:  The best way to keep from snacking is to be asleep.  Whether your cravings are hunger driven or just habit, sleep will help to naturally drive away any temptation.  You will wake up the next morning feeling great about yourself rather than feeling guilty, and bloated.

2.  Keep tempting food out of reach:  If your fridge is stocked with bad food, as soon as a craving hits there is nothing to stop you from indulging.  So try not to stock your cupboards with tempting foods that are not a part of your meal plan or diet.  Only buy it when you deserve a reward and only buy enough for one portion.

3.  Snack on raw crunchy veggies:  Veggies like celery, carrots and broccoli provide so many healthy nutrients to your body and so it is much healthier to snack on.  It will occupy your hands and fill your belly making for a great distraction.

4.  Find a hobby:  Sometimes reading or watching television at night can trigger you to want to snack on tasty treats.  If you are following a weight loss plan, this can be very detrimental to your progress and so it is best to find other activities that you can do to distract you such as playing a board or card game which will distract your hands or even taking the dog out for a walk, or art can keep your mind off of food too.

5.  Have just one bite:  If it comes down to the point where you just have to have something, then go ahead just do so with caution.  Portion out how much you should have into a seperate bowl and leave the bag or container behind so as to avoid overeating.
