Get Better Sleep: Fight Insomnia And Lose Weight And Fight Disease: Blame It On The Alcohol

Sleep is often a very misunderstood activity, we need sleep and we need enough of it.Sleep is a time of regeneration for your body,and it is that regeneration that reduces your risk of heart disease,diabetes,depression and obesity.But in your busy schedule how can sleep fit in - and how can you get enough?

What was once thought of as a sleep aid is now know as a sleep disturbance. Alcohol may help you to fall asleep faster but chances are that it will wake you up once it begins to wear off.  as alcohol is metabolized it begins to act as a stimulant.  If you have a night cap before bed you are likely to wake up again 4 to 5 hours after you fall asleep, and it can be harder to get back to sleep.

Rather than reaching for a night cap set up a night time routine that promotes sleep.  Try a warm shower, as you come out of the shower and your body begins to cool off you will get sleepy, since this is the same process your body goes through when you begin to fall asleep.  Top your shower off with a warm cup of decaf chamomile tea.
