If your cardio plan is constantly interrupted by a pinching pain running up and down the front of your lower leg then you could be experiencing skin splints. Skin splints are a common injury that are the result of overuse, and no this doesn`t necessarily mean that you should halt your cardio plan all together. More often than not shin splints are the result of increasing your running distance or speed too quickly.
If you are experiencing shin pain take a day off your cardio plan and ice the area. when you return to your cardio program scale back the intensity (speed) and time and gradually increase your time and speed slowly. You may also want to evaluate your sneakers, if they are more than 6 months old and you run on a regular basis (more than 2 times a week) you may need a new pair. Seek the advice of the footwear experts at your local running store to get a pair of sneakers that best suit your feet and your running pattern.
