
Maybe you have heard that exercise can make you smarter, but is this really true? The answer is yes, individuals who perform at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise, like walking, each day out perform those that are sedentary on cognitive challenges. In fact exercise is so beneficial to brain power that elementary school across the country are beginning to participate in “Brain Gym“.
Brain Gym is an on the spot series of physical activities that children participate in once int he morning and once after lunch. The activities are done to music and get the children marching, squatting, hoping on the spot and stretching. Research has shown that children who participated in the Brain Gym outperformed those who did not perform the Brain Gym on their standardized testing. The take home message, stand up once in a while at work and go for a walk, climb the stairs and hit the gym at lunch, your boss will thank you.
