Is Body Fat Putting You At Risk For Alzheimer’s?

bodyfat

We know the health risks that come with weight gain, the heart disease, the hypertension, diabetes, colon cancer and even depression but did you know that your brain function can be greatly effected by weight gain as well?  In recent studies it was found that individuals who were over weight had 4% less brain tissue than those who are of a normal weight.  To make it worse the study found that individuals who are obese (30% over weight and above) had 8% less brain tissue than individuals who have a normal body weight.

It seems that like the heart, the brain too suffers from decreased blood flow when an excess of fat tissue is present.  The take home message is to prevent demenia and increase your brain function exercise and a great diet is a must.
